21st Century Voice Lessons
for Contemporary Singers
Music Theory for Singers
Fall/Winter 2020/21
The purpose of this course is to get singers absolutely comfortable with reading and writing pitch & rhythm, understanding scales & key signatures, losing their fear of intervals & triads, and recognizing dynamic, tempo, articulation & roadmap markings on sheet music as well.
Singers who front a band of musicians will only be recognized as their true leader when they speak the language of music to communicate with the members. Choir singers will find it much easier to follow any piece handed out to them for a first read-through. Musical Theatre singers will feel confident telling their accompanists in rehearsals or auditions what they need from them so they can shine.

The course is divided into 4 modules (totaling 16 weeks), allowing ample time per subject to truly internalize the information presented. The accompanying printed workbook will be used in class as well as for homework, and contains close to 100 pages of workouts. A companion Ear Training course is available for those who want to go all in to be able to not just sight-read, but also sight-sing sheet music.
